Theological reflection
I have been prepping some lectures on theological reflection and one of the keys is in slowing down the process to ensure we dont allow the preconceived ideas or traditions (our conditioning) to over ride the process. Particpation and teenagers
Youthblog posted this link to a teenagers report on technology as part of their work experience. Whilst i am sure the student was motivated which i guess from the fact that the placement was with Morgan Stanley, it make think about how little we expect from young people generally in terms of participation and leadership in youth work and church.

its been a while
FYT conferences used to keep me going when i just started out in youth work in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Meeting with like minded people working with young people on the edge was an important part of maintaining sanity and hearing stories encouraging. An opportunity to shape the new programme to develop young people’s workforce
CWDC is holding 11 regional consultations and an online consultation to give those who work with young people the opportunity to shape the next stages of a £25m programme. The programme, managed by the Children’s Workforce Network and led by CWDC, covers the young people’s workforce aspects of Aiming High for Young People*.
The programme aims to strengthen leadership and management through training programmes for up to 300 strategic leaders, 5,000 frontline managers and 150 emerging leaders; to build capacity in the third sector; and create a common platform of skills which includes the Youth Professional Status.

Employers and others in the sector are being asked to get involved and help shape this training and development programme. To ensure everyone’s views are heard, CWDC has organised a series of consultation events over the next two months. These will be in:

“These consultations will be the ideal opportunity for people for those who work with young people to shape and be part of developing a world-class workforce which will meet the demands of the 21st century.”

One of the yp I work with is an excellent skater and usually cleans up when he enters any competitions locally. We were discussing part time jobs and about the possiblity of setting up a skateschool as a social enterprise where we come and teach basic skating to other youth projects.
